In 2011, Carole Zbinden opened her micro-mill ‘Garden of Aromas’ on her family’s Central Valley property. Her plan was to process Costa Rica’s best coffees and share them with new emerging markets. Shortly after opening, Carole met our founder, Andy on his first foray to the country where he purchased coffee from her family’s farm ‘Finca El Quizarra.’
Over the last seven years Carole’s mill and farm have become one of our favourite places to visit on our annual trip to Central America. Their water-saving eco-pulpers and coffee cherry composting program are just two examples why we admire their dedication to quality and sustainability.
El Quizarra is very clean, consistent and unique in its profile compared to other more adventurous honey-processed coffees. Always a fan favourite, we are proud to see this coffee return from one of our long-standing producer partners.
