From the volcanic mountains of Santa Ana to your espresso machine. El Retiro’s qualities make it destined for a more developed roast, creating a rich and full-bodied cup with dominant chocolate sweetness.
Finca El Retiro is a former Cup of Excellence winner that was brought to us by the renowned Pacas Family of El Salvador. This Red Bourbon lot was honey processed and grown under the shade of Inga and other mountain trees which help to promote soil fertility. Impeccable growing conditions and farming practices have yielded beautiful cherries from this farm year after year.
Although El Retiro is developed for espresso, classic coffee lovers will enjoy this one no matter the brew method.

MEET MARIA PACAS

For generations, Cafe Pacas has been dedicated to the cultivation, processing and export of specialty coffees in Western El Salvador. Their family operation includes multiple farms in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountains, a region known for its volcanic and fertile soils.
The Pacas family influence goes as far as having their own coffee varietal – the Pacas varietal – which is sought after globally and widely cultivated in and around El Salvador.
As Director of Operations, Maria represents the fifth generation of her family’s legacy. She is also a Board Member for the International Women in Coffee Association in El Salvador (AMCES). Their mission is to “Empower women in the coffee community so that they can live a dignified and sustainable life, encouraging them to participate in all parts of the coffee industry.”
