SUMAVA DE LOURDES – 'LADERA' – COSTA RICA

$19.00

A deeply sweet and creamy cup from award-winning partner, Francisco Mena.

Our second lot of the year from award-winning producer partner, Francisco Mena is ‘Ladera’ (Spanish for ‘hillside’) from Finca Sumava de Lourdes. As the winner of  2016's Cup of Excellence – the industry’s most prestigious competition and auction – Mena is regarded as somewhat of a specialty coffee legend who continues to produce coffees that are instant classics.

Ladera is comprised of the Villa Sarchi varietal: a dwarf plant and natural mutation of Bourbon that is tolerant of strong winds and well-adapted to high altitudes. One of the many varieties grown on Mena’s farm in the West Valley of Costa Rica.

This red honey processed coffee has a deep, date-sugar sweetness with hints of ripe berries, and a very creamy mouthfeel. Another superb lot from a dear friend of the roastery.
